I am getting ready to start a head gasket job on my friends 3.1L V6. I have been going through the Chilton manual I have and getting prepared...
I think this job will go pretty smooth (as long as the heads check out okay), since the 3.1L isn't a DOHC engine....if it was I probably wouldn't even attempt changing the head gaskets....
Anyways, I have a question regarding the removal of the rear exhaust manifold. From what it seems, doing this will be one of the biggest challenges.
In the steps provided, I come across "Unfasten the rear drivetrain the front suspension frame bolts/screws. Carefully lower the drivetrain and front suspension frame assembly." This is exactly how it is in the manual...there seems to be a typo..
Well, I looked through the manual on doing this and it is kind of hard to picture what is going on here. Does this completely lower the engine/transaxle out from under? Is this difficult to do? Is it necessary?
Any info on removing the rear exhaust manifold would be very helful. I could probably figure it out when I get to it, but it would be nice with a little heads up before I start...
I am confident in doing everything else that is envolved....just removing that exhaust manifold is the only thing I am unsure about.
I would appreciate any help...
Thanks
