On my '94 it was a pain in the butt.
Get as much gas out of the tank as you can to start off. Mine had a gas tank cover that unbolted to reveal the gas tank itself, held in place with metal straps. Dropping the tank is just a matter of unbolting those and disconnecting everything...which is easier said than done. The filler neck on mine was clamped, and the clamp was turned away, up into the body. So that was a bit difficult to figure out. The electrical connections and i think the vent lines all connect up on the top of the tank.
I'm sure I forgot a few things, I did it a long time ago.
