When I look underneath, I see two bolts towards the rear of this black plastic tray/housing unit. Are these the two bolts you mention? The tray/housing unit seems to have a rounded piece towards its front with some sort of plastic clip that snaps down onto it (am I even in the right place?). There are also two more screws that seem to be securing this plastic tray to the dash. The two screws are closer to the front of this tray.

You need to remove the glove box as stated by lorunner. Look under it for the hinge, cleary visible, at each end are the 2 8mm bolts.

You need to cut the plastic piece off to get to the bolts behind it and to get the bar out. Once the bar is out then remove the acces panel from the evaporater housing and pull out the filter.
