well, if i am not mistaken, the 1990 maxima has a VG30E in it and the 1990 300ZX has a VG30DE in it, so i know that the maxima is SOHC and the Z is DOHC, now, about the pistons, rods, and crankshaft being exchangable, it *might* be, but very unlikely.
