From what I know, car carpeting comes pre-formed. So, basically it just sits there, pre-fit, held on by door sills, seats, and things like that. I suppose you could try it, but it might take some work. I don't imagine it would be easy to stretch and shape.

I would suggest looking on the internet for some new carpet. It'll usually run around 150-200, and I'm sure you could find some that's somewhat thick (if that's what you're looking for). I've never installed any, but it seems pretty basic...take out the seats and anything else holding it in place, remove the old carpet, drop in the new mold, replace seats etc...
