Pretty sure it crankwalked, though can't specifically remember the clutching symptoms happening. I was sent an audio file by joemathews of crankwalk, and my car sounds almost the same. There was going to be some labor involved in taking the block apart to physically see what was going on, (but it started turning into a clanging sound in the end), so I thought that I might as well get a 6-bolt now. Not that I have $7700 lying around (RRE's CRAZY quote for a 2.4 stroker 6-bolt, fully installed), but I thought I'd rough it out and get parts myself. Saved a lot of dough on the block alone, though there was a complete 6-bolt crate motor (pan to cover, complete, with 30XXX miles, stock) on ebay for $900 buy it now...wouldve gotten it, except the guy refused to ship to CA.

I guess it was time to get a 6-bolt, though I wish the damn 7-bolt bastard would've lasted longer. Only 125XXX pampered miles. My friend's 96 stock GST has 170xxx and knock on wood, hes running the stock turbo and the stock motor, and i pray to god it stays that way till he can afford a sweet upgrade.
