The engine dies because disconecting the hose bypasses the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Send email to Sea Foam and ask them. While your writing, ask them to provide all their documentation from manufacturers that recomend or approve Sea Foam. Their advertisement doesn't claim they have a single one, not even Evinrude. Only that more than one mechanic has chose Sea Foam for more than 50 years. Sounds like snake oil to me. Use it on lawn mowers and outboard motors keeping in mind that like WD-40, it is flamable. Don't try to put it inside an automotive engine.
