Did you get the owner's manual and booklets with the car? If so, there may be some stickers with 5 digits on them in the owner's manual packet, those 5 digits are you keypad code. Also, the code should be on a sticker affixed to the keyless entry module. I'm not sure where it's located on the '89, but on my '93 SHO the module was mounted in the trunk near the driver's side seat back. It was a black box with a white sticker, the white sticker had my 5 digit code on it. The code was also on a sticker affixed to the underside of the trunk lid. If you find a white sticker with a 5 digit code on it, that is probably your default code. You can program in a unique code once you have your default code, but the default code will always work.
