Re: fuse after fuse after fuse after fuse after fuse
not many people have done that mod here, but ive been through it, so i might be able to help
i too hacked off the stock headlight plug, and wired one light to the normal beams, and one light to the high beams, and because i wanted them all on at the same time, i went to the headlight switch on the steering column, took the cover off, and using my digital voltmeter and some wire, made a jumper from the parking light power to the brights power.
this means that when i turn the parking lights on (one click on the light twisty thingy), the brights and parking lights come on, but their really just amber fog lights that go nicely, because their yellow. then when i turn the twisty clicky thingy to full light, the other two come on, which are my normal night lights.
as for the "cant find the wires" thing with your driver side, im not sure what you mean, the wires are the same for both sides, and you can just use an electronic testor, or a digital multimeter to figure out which is which.
just turn the lights full on, then go to the cut wires and touch the red lead of the multimeter to one of the three wires, and put the black lead of the multimeter to a body ground. which ever wire shows a signal is the low beam wire, then do the same but with the brights on, and the remaining wire is the ground.
the only cause for the fuses might be that you mistakenly grounded a hot wire or something.
