its a lot bigger than a 17mm, and if you just remove the bolt that holds the lower control arm to the hub you can swing hub out far enough to remove the axle without removing the 2 upper bolts that hold the hub to the strut. turning the steering all the way to the left will give you extra swing on hub to remove the right axle and opposite for left. also unless you jack the side your gonna pull a lot higher than oposite side you will lose some fluid out of the tranny so have a catch basin handy
