I had to do this on my 2000 1.3L while removing the transmission for rebuilding. I did not need any special tools but I would suggest bearing the following in mind. Get a good prybar with a long handle to pop the driveshafts out of the transmission end. You will need new spindle nuts - once you unstake the old ones they cannot be reused. I think they need a 17mm socket and need to be torqued to 130 ft-lbs. Only other couple of steps is that you will need to remove the ball joint nut from the streering kuckle and also the 2 nuts/bolts from the strut so that you can move the wheeel hub assembly outwards to remove the driveshafts.
