could it also maybe just be a short somewhere? when my battery slid over once and hit the side of my fender (due to corroded battery tray) it was smoking pretty bad, in fact it was litterally tack welded to the fender and i had to twist it off just like when the rod on a stick welder gets stuck on the thing youre welding. it was a real bad short and it happened to occur when i was turning across traffic on a busy street. my engine lost all spark and me and my buddies had to push the damn thing two blocks in the middle of rush hour traffic. makes for a good story i guess... lol
