Check this out, your problem is when you make a turn? when you drive straight forward or backward there´s no poping sound, right? If your awnsers is YES on this two question´s the problem is in the BACK PART!, I all ready make a repair in the back axle and solve the problem, for be sure about this, tell some one to drive the SUV back and forward making a turn in low speed, and I´m 90% sure that the sound it´s coming out of the back rim.
If I´m right on this, take it to a Auto trans especialist, to repair that PAIN from your SUV.
