WIP EK9 (Civic Type R)

yup another Civic.

It’s a Fujimi kit, stock EK9 (99 Civic Type R). I chose yellow (Tamiya Chrome yellow TS-47) for the exterior.

First step, I primed the body with Tamiya primer, before I sprayed the yellow, I noticed that I didn’t do a good job in sanding off some of the “edges” on the bumper which didn’t get covered with the primer. Sure, sand it smooth, washed and sprayed the yellow. BIG mistake!

After some failed attempts to wash it off with water/scraping

As mickbench mentioned on his post, yellow definitely a pain in the butt to work with. It does NOT cover anything. The little sanding that I did after primer clearly (as the primer got sanded and the body colour, silver/gun-metal surfaced) shown after the first layer of yellow. Without taken any chances… EK went for a bath (thanks AF FAQ for the advise of “Castrol Super Clean”)

Start from square 1

Primed – at this point I was debating if I should go white, looks kinda nice with white

Painted – lesson learned, there was a little “bump” on paint on the bumper, rather than doing anything to smooth it out, I let it sits. Overnight the paint settled and the bump was gone the next morning.

Stay tune!
