'96 Jetta Bearing Vibration

After taking my Jetta down a rather lengthy and bumpy gravel road, I noticed a persistent humming vibration in the front right part of the car. It goes away when I turn left, and becomes worse while turning right.

After taking it to Les Schwabs they told me that it needs new struts, and new bearing plates, but they seemed to stress the struts more. I know that the struts probably need to be replaced, but my concern was the vibration, which I am almost positivly certain is caused by the Wheel bearings.

It is probably rather aparrent that I don't know much about automobiles, but my question is: are Bearing Plates the same as "Wheel Bearings", and if the two are different, will just installing new Bearing Plates correct the vibration and humming?

And if you had to guess, what would you imagine this would all cost?

Thanks,

Brian
