the best place for you (actually both of you) to start (given what you just said) would be to pull the code - my post ^ was more intended for datura99.

datura in regards to your response.. pulling a code is not that hard. the next time your car throws the code - it will store it in memory till your next start. locate a lil blue service connector from the drivers side - just behind the center console - you may have to dig around with your hands a lil bit - but i'm sure you'll find it. once you find it - jump it with something - anything conductive will work, like a paperclip (heh not plastic kind), small wire, or my favourite - the U shaped audio terminal. once it is jumped turn the ignition on (on as in on, but NOT to start/crank) - now - watch your check engine light - it will flash pulses at you, first slow then fast. count the slow flashes - then count the fast flashes. and come up with a number - as i said above. tell us here WHAT code you are throwing (or if you can't figure the code - tell us how many slow flashes and then how many fast flashes) if you have MULTIPLE problems - it will pulse out one code after another - but let's worry about that hurdle if we come to it. - then we can help you troubleshoot your problems. as for a book, helm's makes a good one - or you can buy a service manual for like a dollar on ebay.
