yeah, they look very good in black.
but the benefit of red as you said is that it is so common, so the paint is cheap! the paint place i used didn't even have to order any, they stock guard's red on the shelf!
my 944 on the other hand is a weird perlescent purple / blue metallic (original porsche colour) and that cost £$£$£$£$£$£$ to get a wing painted (more than the entire 924).
