Re: resetting Maintenance Required light

I'm so sorry, my previous reply was in error. I thought you were refering to the Malfunction Indicator light when in fact you have the Maintaince Required Idiot light on.

The Maintainance Required light is my pet peeve with Chrysler designers. The light comes on based on mileage - somewhere between 70k - 80k miles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the car. It was Chrysler intent to have their vehicle's emmission control systems checked out at periodic intervals. My peeve is that this checkup is at owner's expense (because you take it to a garage to check for why a red light is on and to get the irritating idiot light off).

There is a reset switch located somewhere under the driver's dash in a hard to reach area to turn off the light. A mechanic would know the details of where. I don't know what it looks like, just know it is there someplace.
Some posters suggest placing a piece of tape over the light. My solution was to remove the light bulb. I think I had problems removing the trim to get at the bulb, so I just broke the glass bulb instead.
