I'm guessing she ripped the facing off the reverse clutch pack as it tried to shift to park. The park pawl wouldn't be able to catch at any forward speed, preventing park engagement, so it probably tried to shift into reverse. But that would assume the motor was running, which doesn't jive with what she's telling you. If the motor was stalled, it wouldn't try to shift. Otherwise, I'd say it stripped some material off the park pawl, and that is interfering with the reverse clutch somehow.

Does it engage park solidly now, and hold on a hill?
