It is possible to do....providing your older car has 4 wheel disc brakes. ABS on drum brakes will not work because most automotive ABS systems are designed for disc systems, with the exception being some older pick up trucks.
You would need a thorough understanding of the function of ABS and some fabrication skills to adapt a suitable master cylinder and wheel speed sensors.
IMHO you are better off to optimise the existing braking system and knowing how to use it. ABS is not necessarily better, it just compensates for the lack of decent driving skills found in the average driver.
