Hopefully someone can point in in the right direction here.

I would like to learn more about the different 3 series models that are out there. ie what constitutes a 318 vs a 328, ti,is, etc

I have always heard and felt that BMWs are great cars, very reliable and a lot of fun to drive. I also really like the styling of them.

I am glad to see that many of the owners of these cars also mod them in an effort to improve the performance even more.

In the next year or so, my wife and I will be purchasing a new (used) car for her to drive every day. We do have harsh winters here, but have a garage. We would probably be looking in the 1990-1997 range. What year was the newer body style (e36??) introduced? Any particular problems with these cars?
