Thanks Oz, I am going to do some research into it. I haven't really heard of the term BIOS so I did a Google search to learn more. I came across this page http://www.wimsbios.com/ and there seems to be a lot of information for me and how to update it. I don't know about the voltage thing. the computer seems to operate normally after I take it off standby and use it for an hour or two and then shut down normally. I would think the computer would use the same amount of voltage shutting down normally whether I was previously on standby mode or not. Oh well, I will read the info on that site and see what I need to do to update and see if that solves the 'problem'(if that could be considered a problem.)
