Could be that your Silverado is new or a newer model that GM has since resolved the piston slap issue. If your truck developes this problem I will guarantee you that you will not like it.
Iv`e owned over 10 vehicles in my life and drove many others. Iv`e only had the problem once before in a 74 Malibu with well over 100,000 miles on it. IT was nowhere near as harsh as my Silverado. I really hope you don`t have this problem. Its more than a slight tap. Sounds just like a cold diesel on start up. Can`t be good for longevity. This problem would bankrupt GM if they were to address it. Its not as simple as a part replacment. Even to fix current production (if not done already) would be a huge undertaking. redesigning the pistions and machinery thats used to produce the engines. I can`t blame them for looking the other way. Its a monster! GM should do more endurance testing before they push the green button.
