The plastic instrument pannel and headlight lenses on my 5.0 were all scratched and horible looking. I used some goop call "Fritz" metal polish (I think it is called Fritz, Brent knows about it, he'll correct me if I'm wrong). Anyways, the goop is applied just like wax. Smear it on, rub it around, and let dry to a haze. After it has dried just buff it off. IIRC it is a polymer that gets into all the cracks, then dries optically clear.

It did a wonderful job on my stang, the headlight lenses and instrument panel looked like new.
