Actually, i've heard air flow mods aren't really the way to go as far as speed. I know you want it to sound good, but if you want more bang for you buck, go with a performance fly wheel and some better pulleys... this is just what i've been told. I'm looking into modding mine, too. However, the header is a definite plus. This is so because you have a second cat right on your stock manifold. Dyno tested, a hot shot header can give you about 15 hp at the wheels. Hot shot headers are supposed to be the best. At specplace.com they are on sale right now for about 300 dollars, which isn't bad. I'm looking into getting one for my 03 spec v. I'm kind of in the same place you are, though. I want my car to sound good, but for the price of exhaust and the gain you get from it... it almost makes it more of an appearance thing than anything else.
