I've never heard of this, but it could very well be true, with all the recent reformation.
I sure hope this never happens, since I've always respected the fact that Nissan has stuck to its heritage. An introduction of a new sign is a sign of submission to marketing. Mazda's new signs didn't do much, other than confuse the consumers.
I don't know if many of you have noticed, but it seems that Nissan's most recent emblems have changed--ever so slightly. The rectangle where the name NISSAN is engraved in is not as wide as it used to be. It used to extend past the circle significantly, but now it nearly lines up with it. Another way to look at it is the circle itself has gotten larger, while the rectangle has remained the same size.
