The air filter should not cause the bogging unless it is defective which I doubt and you appeared to have the problem before hand. BTW - Also check the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor and make sure it is connected properly. It is located on the rubber intake before the throttle body and air cleaner assembly.

You might want to try the MAF sensor (Mass Airflow) test I mentioned earlier. Good luck!
