I usually check the gap, but they are almost always pre-gapped correct, unless it got dropped or something. The electrode is very stout on them, hard to bend.
I don't know anything about Delco changing from plat to iridium, I suppose it's possible. Iridium is supposed to be superior, but not in a way noticeable for street use, so it's kinda pointless, unless they cost the same. Delco plats will run 100,000 miles without fail, what more can you ask from a plug? Any improvement in discharge intensity or durability woould be hard to notice in a street application.
I was going to put them in the Impala SS, but after talking to a few others who put them in the LT-1 and noticed no difference, I just stuck with stock.
