I was just thinking about starting a thread on "get you 'till payday" fixes that I've accumulated through the years before I read this. That's great! I've had to do that more than once. I used exhaust putty around the pipe where the clamps were gonna go, and cut a soda can's ends off for a sleeve, conforms to the pipe quite nicely because it's so thin, and cuts with a kitchen knife.
