amsoil synthetic/filters/etc.
I have just dropped a 383 stroker into my 370,000-mile '90 Suburban. I'm the original owner and the original 350 got me that far. With seven vehicles (four Chevys and three BMWs) I spend a lot of time on routine maintenance. Most of my vehicles are between 200,000 and 400,000 miles, so as you can imagine I don't mind spending serious money on the best products I can find for preventive maintenance.
I've heard good things about Amsoil products from proplw who are users, not dealers. Amazing things like a dually truck going from 11 to 15mpg.
If you Yahoo or Google "Amsoil" you will get thousands of hits. Lots of dealer sites, as it is a multi-level marketing organization.
They have a 0-30W (that's right) oil that they claim can go up to 35,000 miles between changes, dual bypass filter set-ups as used on diesel trucks, air filters that far outperform K & N, etc.
In five decades of driving and wrenching, I've settled on Castrol Syntec for my engines, Redline D4 ATF for automatics, Torco for rear ends, Mobil 1 grease for chassis, etc. but I'm always on the lookout for something better. The Amsoil testimonials all sound great, but a bit too good to be true. Any experiences good or bad you can tell us about, Chevy people?
