I'd look into the car's service history if it's through an existing Daewoo dealership ? I should have requested this before buying my 2000, 1.6 L . The previous owner probably serviced it poorly , causing engine damage. ( top half rebuilt, but they didn't check cylinder head !?(cracked,) and twice had head gasket changed under warranty thankfully) Definately consider a warranty program if offerred . also check to see if the recalls were done. ( two wiring harnesses under each front seat, and torque settings for tires ( 88 ft lbs versus 66 - otherwise possible tires loosening while braking / cornering on highways ) might be worth the charge for www.carfax.com to look up the car's history if you can obtain its VIN number. I wish I had of researched more. I could have just got a lemon, because I know someone who has had a Daewoo for years and drove a lot of miles. He influenced me to get mine at a great price too.do some homework for sure. also , don't believe the salesman when he tells you G.M. can service the car since they bought Daewoo a couple years ago. They can't fully service it ( computer diagnostics not possible) - Some major auto service chains do have very good diagnostics . I live in Canada, and Canadian Tire's report was very similar to Daewoo dealership in Toronto. Good luck.
