I am currently in the middle of a project to change the oem silencers
from pointing down to 4.4 or 4.6 look alike.
The more logical/economical solution would be to weld (in stainless steel....no rust in long term) an s/s tube from the end pipe to the
openings in the bumper(where the plastic covers are),but at first
look there is very little space to play with!
The other way to go is to fit universal stainless steel universal silencers
and weld on the desired exhaust tips.
Know a few people that fitted Remus silencers and said that although
the car feels livelier they dont like the tips pointing upwards and thus
redirecting the smoke onto the rear of the car!
Supersprint do a lovely looking 4.6 lookalike system but it costs more
than the oem 4.6(1262 euros!).
Alternatively,I could buy the oem 4.4 silencers(786 euros)or the oem
4.6 (1067 euros) which has a pipe diametre of 57mm(3.0d=51mm).Both
these are cheaper than the aftermarket sysyems and are also in stainless
steel.
In my opinion the safest way would be to go for 60mm pipe diametre
universal s/s silencers and weld the desired tips.
Magnex exhausts do a universal s/s silencer measuring 450mm from end to end with round 90mm tips for 109.00 GB Pounds each.
Would welcome any feedback and opinions on this!
