HELP!! Driver side door won't unlock!!

I've got a 96 Acura Integra 2door. I'm having problems with my driver side door not unlocking. I will try to paint a picture to maybe help find a resolution to my problem.

My car has an alarm but it's disabled. I only use the keyfob for the keyless entry. The car has power windows and door locks.

Well sometimes my door will not open. I press the unlock button on the keyfob and it tries to unlock the doors but just automatically relocks itself. I can try to use the key in the driver side door but nothing. I can try to open the door from the inside and still nothing. The passenger door works just fine but the driver side door doesn't.

I've taken the door panel off and sprayed the door lock from the inside with wd-40 but no luck. With the door panel off I notice there are 4 rods leading to the door lock. 1 rod leading from the inside door handle, 1 rod from the inside lock button, 1 rod from the outside door handle and 1 rod from the outside keyhole. The only way to get the door to unlock is to get something to press down on the rod that leads from the outside door handle to the lock. now this is the confusing part. even though i lift the outside handle and it pushes the rod that doesn't unlock the door. i literally have to use a "slim jim" or whatever that thing is called and slide it down between the door and the window and make the rod go down.

any ideas on what the problem is?! i'm so tired of crawling over to the passenger seat to get out of my car!!
