Just noticed that the lights on my 97 Taurus were on (not bright - maybe daytime running lights), and that they would flicker into a higher beam for a couple of seconds at a time. I thought I might have left the lights on, so I checked - I hadn't but the high beam light on the display was ON for some reason.

Was worried about running down the battery, so I started it up and went for a short drive. Everything is fine for now, but I'll have to disconnect the battery in case it acts up again.

Please let me know what this could be. I can't keep disconnecting my battery every time I park the car.
