that's true, but it's still easy for mechanics to take advantage of someone's lack of knowledge. when a trained professional says your car needs this or that, a person with limited car knowledge is going to be quick to agree to have it done, especially if it's their ony method of transportation. not all mechanics are grimey, but not all are trustworthy either.
