I recintly bought a 95 3000GT SL and ive been loving it ever since. Since i got it i installed some subwoofers so it could really pound. well anyways on to the problem, one day while i was warming up my car during the winter (running full heater, de-icers, lights, and subs) i noticed a burning smell so i imdiatly turned off everything and poped the hood. the first thing that i saw was a glowing hot wiring terminal on the Alternator.
Since then the voltage indicator never goes higher than 12v and even dips down to about 8v after driving for a bit. From what ive seen im pretty sure that the alternator is completly fried. ive quoted some places and found rebuilt alternators for around $160 but my question is where can i find more high performance alternators for my car like alternators that can produce around 160 -200 amps and if i do get these will i have to replace anything else on my car (wires, fuses, etc..) also i would appreciate any tips that you guys have on removing and installing the alternator thank you
