Did you check your timing belt?
You said Z34, I assume you have the original engine (3.4L DOHC). Cam timing on these engines is based on a belt and sprocket system. Your belt should be changed every 60,000 miles. Once your belt gets old it can stretch or even break, throwing your timing way off. If it is your belt, don't just buy the belt, also buy the cam idler pulleys (2) and your timing belt tensioner spring assembly. Those can go bad and make your belt either (1) wear unevenly - you'll see your belt has physically reduced in width, and there will be what looks like black hairs inside the cam inspection cover or (2) jump cogs and lose belt teeth (timing change).
