Agreed, I performed the same type of repair. Cut the rubber tubing so that you provide the longest piece. Make sure of course, it is in good shape. Get 2 appropriate diameter screw type hose claps and put 2 on each joint you make. Also make sure there are no sharp ends on the tubing you insert into the rubber transmission line hosing.
While you are making this repair I would also check the quick connects into the radiator for leaks. The quick connects are expensive from the dealer but I think there are aftermarket makers now.
On the window motors definately Don't! go to the dealer. Do a search on-line they are about 1/2 the price for the same item. The same goes for power lock actuators.
