I live a cold part of the country but that much loss is not normal. They had balanced & rotated my tires and did a oil change. I am still experiencing a vibration after all their work. BUT anyway, You would think they would have put the pressure as it should be! The GM bulletins say that the Aveo is shipped from factory with the tires at 40 psi and the dealer is alerted to put them at 30 psi.

I have automatic transmission and the lowest gas mileage I have gotten was 28mpg US gallon. What rpm range are you driving at higher rpm uses more gas, but you have to not lug the engine down with running at low rpm also uses more gas. I would keep the rpm range below 3000 rpm
if possible probably in the 1500-2000 rpm when driving normally. Having an automatic it shifts when it wants to basically, unless I engage the hold control and then it locks into the lower gear. Such as when going up long hills where it wants to up and downshift frequently, I engage hold and it locks into third gear and goes up hills better. Your mileage will improve with use. With 5 speed you should get 45+ mpg on trips.
