Hmm after posting.... i thought i'd find a link on toyota's page on the specifications of the engine, i found them, they are 10hp off from what the booklet says. if you wana look its at

they quote the XRS as 170hp, i remember the XRS always as being 180hp, possibly they lowered it from the first release. I remember a similar thing toyota did with the MR2, when it first came out we had one sitting at the dealer lot, i specifially remember looking at the engine, it was a VVTL-i , i KNOW it was because i remember looking at the valve cover and it said it was and i thought it was cool that they put a nice 180hp (here again it WAS 180hp before) engine in a MR2. If you look now they dont come with that engine. Seems toyota likes to beef up their specs and they are eather lying in the begining or they are tuning the cars down for some reason, i would guess the first.
