The quick lube shops use pretty much whatever's cheapest, I've seen mostly fram.

I use Purolators Pure One in my truck now. It's a great filter, I've never had cleaner oil with any other filter. What that study says about possible restriction is not true, at least in my truck. Some of the smaller ones may have restriction, but mine is pretty big, about 7-8 inches high. I'll cut mine open the next time I change my oil (another 300 miles) to see what the element looks like.
