I think you mean the JDM motors don't have the number designation after the "A". Like the motor in your sig picture.
Also, I think the USDM motor are underrated at 160. They always dyno quite strong for a 160hp motor and I think 170 is closer. They have slightly more agressive cams and a better intake manifold design than the 160hp 1st gen.
