thumb nails are not a bad idea in order to reduce the loading time of a page... but if people are going to be viewing all of the pictures anyways, then thumb nails only make it more pain in the butt.
So thumb nails for each model car in the main gallery page would be not bad of an idea, but not in the individual model's page..
