My boyfriend's car has problems with the check engine code coming on and its also a 97. It last came up with an A/F sensor code and that is located in the front of the engine. It should screw in on one end and then connect to a circuit. Maybe the circuit it plugs into is bad? I don't think it would cost too much, but don't listen to me...I don't know much.
