auto x-ray is alright but it doesn't do airbags or abs. you could try buying a used tech 1 from e-bay which would be more versatile than anything else for your vehicle since it's gm's tool. i have a snap-on solus scan tool it works pretty well but is probably out of your price range. however you should be able to find a used snap-on MT-2500 with the right primary cartridge and troubleshooter for about $500 on e-bay. this will blow all those cheap scan tools out of the water and it works on abs, airbags, and transmissions. the trouble shooter is nice because it defines most trouble codes and tells the most common causes and fixes. if you get one with the books you will have wiring diagrams and bulletins for your vehicle as well.
don't even bother with those cheap code-readers, you can get the same result with a paperclip by jumping the A&B terminals of the ALDL.
