Sandman, is it possible it might even just be a component of your dash rattling? A while back, I thought I had a bad bearing that I was hearing at idling, except I slammed my hand down on top of my dash above my instrument cluster, and the rattling sound stopped - so apparently it was just something loose in the dash.
