well here is an update to this thread....... I had placed a chunk of card board in front of the radiator to get a bit of heat but it was still not enough. I ended up over heating the car once it got warmer outside because I for got about the cardboard (st00pid me). I let it cool down and added more coolant and it still ran fine. I did a compression check on it and all of the cylinders were within each other and spec. I decided to go the route of changing the thermostat and the heater core. Once everything was done I had heat again! I took the heater core and opened it up....... found that every single one of the ports that the coolant flows through was blocked tight so that the incomming fluid would go straight back out.
