lowering an 05

I know that in every lowering post it is said that it is a good idea to get a new set of shocks/struts because those are prolly already worn out and the ride will be rough and this is true, now on my 05 I don't have many mile on it would it also be a good idea to get new ones or would the stock ones work in this case. I only want to lower the car about 1.5 inches. and if I did keep the stocks would they wear out alot faster from the increased stress.
