i've heard similar about neutral and going downhill.
I didin't know about possible mechanical damage though.
I had heard it is easier to lose control on steep grades while in neutral. I don't understand it, but I aint gonna take the chance.
As for other people in the car, yeah, the more weight in the car, the more the engine has to work. But with people it should be a miinimal change...well..depends on the people, and the car. someone like..oh...say.. Jenna Jameson is small, and light (and tight) . In a Cadillac, there'd be almost know change in mileage.
Now, Oprah in a...uh....civic, you better be gettin some gas money from that bitch.
And at idle, I would guess it wouldn't matter, but maybe someone in this forum KNOWS.
oh yeah...qab5b... downshifting earlier?...wouldn't that consume more fuel? or didya mean upshifting?
