Had an '86 myself. Your tune up should include at least new spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor (inside the distributor). If your plug wires are old, then you may want to look into a new set.
Replacing the air filter every 15K and the fuel filter every 50K will also go a long way to keeping things running well.
